I usually buy my tapenade in the store but every time I make tapenade myself I’m wondering why. Tapenade is really easy to make, done in seconds especially with this tapenade recipe.

The ingredients are in most kitchen cabinets or refrigerator and you can adjust it to your taste. You can eat it with a lot of things as you can see down below.

Tapenade ingredients

We are making two different tapenades today a green olive tapenade and a red tapenade. Green tapenade is made with slightly different ingredients than the sun-dried tomato tapenade.

The taste of a red tapenade is usually a little softer than a green tapenade.

What do you need to make a green tapenade:

  • 10 green olives
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 cup rocket
  • 1 tbsp of olive oil from sun-dried tomatoes
  • 2 sun-dried tomatoes

For the red tapenade you need:

  • 10 black olives
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 cup half sun-dried tomatoes
  • 6 cherry tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp of olive oil

How to make olive and sun-dried tomato tapenade

To make this tapenade recipe you need a food processor, kitchen machine or blender. You can try to make it by hand and cut it the ingredients with a knife but with a food processor, it is so much easy.

To make it easy add all of the ingredients for the green olive tapenade in a food processor. Depending on how rustic you want your tapenade you can pulse it a couple of times.

Want a more smooth tapenade let the food processor run a little while longer. When the tapenade is done take it out of the kitchen machine and store it in a bowl or glass jar.

When your green olive tapenade is done clean your kitchen machine before making the sun-dried tomato tapenade. All of the hard work is done by the food processor.

Best way to store your tapenade

The best way to store your tapenade is in the refrigerator. Put the tapenade in an airtight glass jar. You can store it at least up to two weeks without it losing any of its taste.

  • Green tapenade:
  • 10 green olives
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 cup rucola

  • Red tapenade:
  • 10 black olives
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 cup half sun-dried tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Take the ingredients for the green tapenade and put them in a food processor
  2. Pulse the food processor. If you want a really rustic tapenade pulse a couple of times, if you want a very smooth tapenade let the food processor run for a couple of minutes
  3. Repeat for the red tapenade
