This recipe is made with a Crockpot Express but can be made in an Instant pot as well. As you are using a multi cooker you have multiple options.

That is why I love the Crockpot Express so much. You can pressure cook or slow cook your recipes all in one machine.

But if you do not have a multi-cooker you do not need to worry. This recipe can be made without it, without any issue.

The prep time of an Instant pot or Crockpot Express is the most important part of your recipe. In less than 5 minutes you can set up de recipe.

All you need to do is put the ingredients in your multi-cooker, select the right program and press START.

That is it you can go about your business. Go to work, clean the house or bring the kids to soccer practice.

By the time you get home your dinner is ready to serve.

How to make pressure cooked shredded chicken tacos 

As mentioned above there are multiple ways to make this recipe. We start with the pressure cooker version. If you have a pressure cooker, Instant pot or Crockpot Express you can use this option.

Wash the chicken and pat it dry with a paper towel. Put it in the pressure cooker. Then sprinkle the taco seasoning on the chicken.

Pour the salsa on top of the chicken. Take a wooden spoon and toss to combine. Put the lid on and select the pressure cook program for approximately 30 minutes. 

Make certain you closed the quick release to keep all the air inside the pressure cooker. When the cooking process is done let your pan naturally release.

Warning! If you are pressed for time quick release the pressure but use an oven mitt because the valve can be really hot.

Remove the lid and take two forks. Shred the chicken and stir it through the salsa so it can soak up all the flavors. 

Warm your favorite tortillas like almond flour tortilla in a preheated oven at 400℉/200℃. Wrap the tortillas in tin foil for about 5 minutes.

Scoop two or three tablespoons of chicken on the tortilla and decorate with your favorite toppings.

How to make Crockpot shredded chicken tacos 

Instead of cooking it in the pressure cooker you can also decide to make this recipe in the slow cooker or Crockpot.

Again wash the chicken and put it in the bowl of the slow cooker. Add the taco seasoning and salsa. Stir through to combine.

Put the lid on but do not close the pressure release valve. Choose the slow cook option. You can cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or on HIGH for 3-4 hours.

Take two forks and shred the chicken and stir through the salsa. Warm your favorite tortillas and plate it up.

How to make shredded chicken tacos 

If you do not own a multi-cooker, Instant pot, slow-cooker Crockpot then you can make this recipe in a regular Dutch oven.

Wash the chicken and pat dry. Preheat your oven to 500℉/250℃. Take you Dutch oven and add the salsa and slowly bring it to a simmer.

Add the chicken breast and cover with salsa. Sprinkle the taco seasoning on top. Stir to combine. Close the lid and put the pan in the oven for, an hour and a half.

Check every half hour if there is still enough liquid in the pan. If not add about half a cup of water. Close the lid and continue to cook. 

Take the pan out of the oven and shred the chicken with two forks. Stir through the salsa and plate up like mention above.

Ready to serve.

Ingredients

  • 8 keto tortillas or flour tortillas
  • 1 chicken breast
  • 2 cups homemade tomato salsa
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon Parsley
  • ½ lemon quartered
  • Avocado optional

Instructions
