This may be a simple and basic recipe but that does not mean it can’t be tasty. You have to make certain you follow these simple rules for you avocado toast.
Use ripe hass avocados. These avocados start out with green skin and turn dark while they get ripe.
How do you determine if a avocado is ripe? Firstly the avocado should be soft to the touch. Then check and remove the stem of the avocado.
If the spot you see is still green your avocado will be green inside. If the spot is brown chances are the avocado is also brown or has brown strings on the inside.
A ripe avocado can be as soft as butter and melt in your mouth but only when it is ripe.
Crusty crust bread
As this is avocado toast you need a soft bread with a crusty crust to make your toast. Use a bread like no knead bread or French floor bread.
Take some thick slice of crusty bread for this recipe. You can toast it under the broiler or in a toaster.
Avocado toast ingredients
For this lunch recipe you need the following ingredients:
- No knead bread
- Sun dried tomatoes
- Lime juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
How do you make avocado toast
Slice your bread in thick slices and turn your broiler on. Let it get hot for 6 or 7 minutes before you put the bread under the broiler.
Put bread on baking tray and warm for 5-7 minutes. Check to see if the bread is golden brown. Turn and repeat for the other side of the bread.
In the meanwhile heat a pan of water and boil two eggs. If you like soft eggs cook for 5 minutes, if you like your eggs firm add 2 or 3 more minutes.
Drain the eggs and rinse with ice cold water so you can easily remove the egg shells. Take a clove of garlic and mash it in a mortar.
Then half your avocado and use a spoon to get the avocado out. Sprinkle the lemon juice on the avocado. Take a fork and mash until you get a soft buttery consistency.
When the toast is golden brown take them out of the oven. Spread the avocado butter on the toast. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Finely chop the sun dried tomatoes and put on the toast and decorate with the eggs. Your avocado toast is done.
